Taxis are so cheap in China. (A twenty minute ride to church costs about $2.30) The first few months we were here, we’d take a taxi whenever our destination was too far to walk. But the last month or so David has become enamored with Chinese city buses. He loves plotting their routes out on a map and considers the bus adventure a treat. I’m not sure which part fascinates him the most: the challenge of knowing where the bus is going and where to get off, the 7 cents bus fare, or the process of cramming into a standing-room-only bus where we’re packed in like sardines. Sometimes people are actually packed on the steps leading up to the bus, but the Chinese way seems to be, just get on and there will be room. Kind of like the miracle of the fish and loaves. It’s a bit of an adventure and nice to merge ourselves into the Chinese way of transportation.

The white buses on the far right are the nice comfy university buses we ride to and from campus during our 45-minute trip.
