THE FROZEN LAND OF HARBIN

Dave couldn't convince me that Harbin, China, with its daytime high temperatures of MINUS twenty degrees Fahrenheit, was the happening place to be last weekend. So he took the trip with a handful of other BYU teachers without me. Here are some of his photos of the world-famous ice and snow sculptures in this frozen land in the upper northeast corner of China. Note the local SWIMMERS taking a dip in water that has had the ice cut away. Oh brrrrr. Even my husband, who I've heard complain about being too hot, but have NEVER heard complain about the cold, said that even with his SEVEN layers of clothes, the cold almost knocked the wind out of him.

Remember, all these structures are made of snow and ice.
