Our Saturday

Two of my students who were born and raised here in Xi'an wanted to show Dave and me a famous ancient Pagoda today. They met us at the campus and we caught a crowded Chinese bus to the sight. My students were wonderful tour guides for the next seven hours and it was delightful to see such a fascinating ancient place with these two fine young men; Archer and Tracy. It still amazes me how much of an oddity we are here. At one point today we had a succession of three different groups of Chinese strangers coming up to us to ask if they could take our picture with them.

From Dad:

Was really a delight.. I was fascinated by a little community orchestra that was accompanying those who would like to take the stage and sing some Chinese opera style music. notice the two string violin kind of things and the drummer, beautiful fountains timed with majestic music! love those little kids.
